He is clear that universities need to look closely at all aspects of their work, and how they operate, with affordability, accessibility, agility and value for money at the forefront of their marketing and community strategies. In a competitive global environment, underpinned by high speed and cheap communications infrastructure, traditional place-based university dominance in the provision of higher education services will rightly be challenged. Those that can be creative, innovative and responsive will thrive.
